Aug 16, 2016 (newstodate): The abrogation of air services between Russia and Ukraine has brought benefit to at least one airport: Minsk, in Belarus.
Minsk Airport has thus seen its passenger volumes growing by 16.8 percent, y-o-y, during the period January-July 2016, and by 25.8 percent during the first half of the year.
The growth in passenger volumes is attributed primarily to the flights by the country's Belavia between Minsk and Odessa with up to 14 weekly rotations, and Belavia also flies on route from Minsk to other Ukrainian destinations including Kiev, Lviv and Kharkov, and cooperates with another Ukrainian carrier Motor Sich that operates daily flights between its base at Zaporozhye and Moscow, connecting to Minsk.
Belavia also operates daily flights to Moscow, providing easy transfer via Minsk to the Ukrainian destinations.
