Aug 09, 2016 (newstodate): Stepping up its efforts to attract more long-haul traffic to Oslo Gardermoen Airport, Avinor has appointed Ulv Elbirk as Director Asia Route Development, to be based in Hong Kong.
Mr Elbirk comes from positions with Copenhagen Airport since November 2007, last serving as Copenhagen Airport Business Unit Manager Long-haul / Feed since January 2015.
Prior to his time with Copenhagen Airport, Mr Elbirk has been posted in Japan, adding to his competencies in this new assignment with Avinor.
One important argument in Mr Elbirk's coming talks with Asian airlines will be the huge loads of Norwegian seafood exports that will easily fill up any cargo compartments on Asian flights, contributing to the profitability of passenger routes despite the historically low cargo rates for this commodity.
