Jul 28, 2016 (newstodate): From speculation to fact: Bombardier will indeed run slightly behind in delivery of the first CS300 aircraft to its launch customer, the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
Until now the delivery was slated for September, but at a press meeting in Riga earlier this week, Bombardier's Rob Dewar confirmed that the first delivery will take place by late October 2016, instead, with the aircraft being gradually introduced in commercial service in November on selected flights to familiarize crews and airports with the new aircraft.
Bombardier however still plans to secure four CS300 aircraft in the fleet of airBaltic before the end of this year, and all 20 aircraft ordered will be delivered by 2018.
The first deliveries were originally slated for 2013 but the launch flight by the CS100 aircraft was only on September 26, 2013, about one year later than originally planned as the program was hit by numerous technical and not least financial snags along the way.
As late as November 2015, the carrier still expected to have 10 CS300 aircraft flying before the end of 2016.
