Jul 01, 2016 (newstodate): The latest cargo statistics from Sweden's three leading cargo airports managed by Swedavia provide pleasant summer reading!
Taken together, cargo volumes handled at the airports of Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg increased by 9.6 percent, y-o-y, during January-May 2016, totaling 102,666 tonnes.
Leading in growth figure was Stockholm Arlanda Airport where volumes rose even more, by 12.3 percent, to 66,715 tonnes.
Volumes through Malmo Airport, in the country's Oeresund region, were up by 10.2 percent to 12,750 tonnes, and Gothenburg Airport also increased volumes, although moderately, by 2.2 percent to 23,191 tonnes.
-According to CASS figures, Sweden's air cargo volumes are actually down, but our statistics prove differently, comprising both IATA and non-IATA volumes, says Ylva Arvidsson, Director Key Accounts, Passenger & Cargo.
-Our figures prove that the market responds favorably to the significant increase in cargo capacity at our airports, primarily in the passenger aircraft belly-hold segment, says Ms Arvidsson.
