Jul 01, 2016 (newstodate): Flying conveniently under the radar, the Danish cargo carrier part of the AP Moller-Maersk Group, Star Air keeps aloft from media speculations over possible future sale of group businesses.
Operating a fleet comprising 11 Boeing 767-200SF and one Boeing 767-300 BCF aircraft, Star Air has long been flying on 10-year contracts with UPS, last renewed in 2014.
Star Air was founded in 1987 and started operation with two Fokker F27.
In 2001, Star Air took delivery of the first of four Boeing 757-200PF, leading to the next upgrade to 11 Boeing 767-200SF, delivered from March 2005 to September 2006, gradually phasing out the Boeing 757.
The latest addition to the fleet was the single Boeing 767-300BCF, delivered in January 2015 on a lease contract with ACMI provider ABX as the current 10-year UPS contract was secured.
