Jun 03, 2016 (newstodate): Russia will soon see the launch of a new cargo carrier, Sky Gates Airlines, to be based at the recently opened 4th Moscow airport at Zhukovsky.
The news broke at the opening ceremonies of the airport on May 30, 2016, and behind the new carrier is Sky Gates Rus as majority owner, and the Lithuanian company Avia Solutions Group that is the majority owner of Ramport Aero, the operator of Zhukovsky's passenger terminal.
Sky Gates Airlines has applied for its AOC, and the first flight is expected by September 2016, with the carrier's first leased aircraft, a Boeing 747-400F. Plans are to add two more of this type in 2017.
In the construction plans for Zhukovsky Airport is a new cargo terminal, to be commissioned in Autumn 2017.
