-So far, most of the seafood, including salmon, exports from Norway and the Faero Islands have hit the global air lanes from not least London Heathrow and Amsterdam where almost all airlines operate. This pattern is changing, says one major airline executive at Copenhagen who requests anonymity.
-Today's Danish airfreight market is rather depressed, but CASS statistics for May 2016 tell of an increase in exports by 6.4 percent, y-o-y. I strongly suspect that most of this increase is due to growing uplift of seafood and salmon from the airports of Copenhagen and Billund.
-In today's market there is a huge over-supply of belly cargo capacity driving general cargo rates down to unbelievably low levels that are unattractive to many legacy carriers.
-However, there are carriers in the market that will fill up their cargo space at whatever price and this makes seafood shipments a growing business for not least Gulf carriers and newcomers like for instance Norwegian, he says.
