Jun 28, 2016 (newstodate): Georgia is developing its capital airport to cope with increasing air traffic driven by growth in tourism.
The operator of Tbilisi Airport since October 2005, TAV Georgia has started construction of a new 12,000 sq m passenger terminal that is part of the development plan also comprising the upgrading of the airport's runway and other infrastructure.
The new terminal will lift the airport's total annual handling capacity from today's 2.8 to 3.5 mio passengers.
After reconstruction works, the Tbilisi Airport's 3,000 m runway will be fully reopened on July 5, 2016.
