Jun 08, 2016 (newstodate): May 2016 provided another boost in cargo volumes for Finnair.
A total of 11,037 tonnes of cargo was lifted on the carrier's passenger flights while freighter operations generated another 1,405 tonnes, which was an increase by 21.7 and 13.7 percent, y-o-y, respectively.
The largest increase was seen on the N Atlantic traffic where volumes grew by 67.4 percent to 837 tonnes, but the Asian traffic remained in the lead with 7,672 tonnes which was also up by 15.5 percent.
Loads on the European traffic showed similar positive trends, up 33.3 percent to 2,379 tonnes in May.
In the first five months of 2016 the carrier generated 58,143 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 14.1 percent, including 36,251 tonnes on the Asian traffic which was also up by 13.3 percent, y-o-y.
During January-May 2016, the largest increase was actually seen in the European traffic that increased by 17.5 percent to 10,084 tonnes.
