Jun 01, 2016 (newstodate): With the lifting on sanctions on Iran, European airlines are falling over each-others' feet to gain access to Iran's prospective market for commercial aviation.
One contestant is Poland's LOT that already in January 2016 obtained rights to operate regular passenger, mail and cargo flights between Warsaw and Tehran.
Iran Air has obtained a similar permit and expectations are that scheduled traffic between the two countries will be launched already in January of February 2017.
Portugal has also signed an MoU with Iran to develop their air services, and under the agreement Iran Air and Euro Atlantic may fly up to seven weekly rotations between Lisbon and Tehran, with no launch date yet announced.
