Jun 01, 2016 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport saw little progress in cargo volumes in May 2016.
A total of 5,412 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, only 0.7 percent up, y-o-y.
Imports saved the day, with an increase by 9.1 percent to 1,873 tonnes, while exports trailed behind with a drop by 3.2 percent to 3,539 tonnes.
During the first five months of 2016, the airport's total cargo volumes were 25,848 tonnes, 2.8 percent down on last year, again with imports up 0.5 percent to 90,195 tonnes, while exports were down 4.6 percent to 16,653 tonnes.
Cargo exports thus continue to fall behind despite the launch of a weekly Turkish Airlines Cargo freighter since April 10, 2016, reportedly lifting a full load out of the airport.
