May 11, 2016 (newstodate): Sky Greenland has withdrawn from participation in the ongoing tender for Greenland's domestic air services.
The closing date for delivering proposals was April 24, 2016 - but prior to that Sky Greenland's intended partner in the bid, the Canadian helicopter company CHC Helicopter folded its wings and filed for Chapter 11 protection to seek restructuring of its business.
-That was unfortunate, but this will not prevent us from seeking a role in Greenland's provision of affordable domestic flights, says Gert Brask, Sky Greenland CEO.
-We are currently negotiating the lease of one Dash 8 aircraft for domestic operations in Greenland, and have a further four on hand, with more on the horizon.
-We are determined to launch flights in Greenland outside the framework of the system set up by the tender, says Mr Brask.
