May 03, 2016 (newstodate): State-owned LOT Polish Airlines is seeing harsh times with financial strains while still seeking either a new owner or going for an IPO to raise fresh capital.
In the meantime, the carrier has decided to keep its three ageing Boeing 737-400 aircraft in the fleet for the coming years, rather than seeking a replacement by more modern aircraft.
A program has thus been launched for renovation of the three aircraft, with fresh cabin interiors, new seats and lighting and passenger facilities like USB sockets.
The aircraft are all operated on lease contracts with the US leasing firm AWAS Leasing
