May 04, 2016 (newstodate): Latvia's airBaltic leaves no doubt about its ambitions in the neighboring Estonian market.
In April 2016, airBaltic claims to have become the largest carrier in Estonia for the first time ever, seeing its passenger volumes up by 64 percent, y-o-y, to 28,474 passengers traveling to and from Estonia.
With the April figures, airBaltic thus beat Estonia's new carrier Nordica by four percent, the carrier says in a release.
airBaltic is now operating 30 weekly flights on six routes out of Tallinn Airport, and foresees a total of 11 direct routes out of Tallinn - as well as out of Lithuania's Vilnius - under its New Horizon plan until 2021.
During the current summer 2016 schedule, Nordica operates flights on 15 direct routes from Tallinn to destinations including Brussels, Kiev, Oslo, Amsterdam, Vilnius, Stockholm, Trondheim, Munich, Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Nice, Split, Rijeka and Odessa.
