May 23, 2016 (newstodate): With only two annual port calls from Denmark, the US Thule Air Base in Greenland depends heavily on airfreight services.
Earlier this month, the US base received a call by a IL-76 freighter from Volga-Dnepr to bring in 34 tonnes of materials required by the Danish construction company Aarsleff working on the base.
The charter operation was set up by the Danish logistics provider Blue Water, with the flight operating from Billund Airport into Thule Air Base.
