May 09, 2016 (newstodate): This month is to see the introduction of Icelandair's first two Boeing 767 aircraft in commercial service.
The aircraft will enter service on dense routes to destinations including London, Copenhagen, New York, Boston and Chicago, adding to the carrier's fleet of 26 Boeing 757-200 passenger aircraft.
But it will not stop there: the company has signed a contract for the acquisition of a further two Boeing 767 aircraft, slated for entry into service with the carrier from early 2017, bring the fleet to four.
The Boeing 767 aircraft will seat 262 passengers while the carrier's work-horse, the Boeing 757-200 seats only 183 passengers, and the Boeing 757-200 seats 220 passengers.
