May 10, 2016 (newstodate): French provider Thales has landed an order with Iran for supply of new radars at the country's airports.
Under a new contract with Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company, Thales will supply Mehrabad, Shiraz, and Bandar Abbas airports with Primary Surveillance Radar and Secondary Surveillance Radar units to enhance surveillance radar monitoring and separation of air traffic at the airports.
Already in 2005, a contract for five radar systems was signed with Thales, but the fifth radar never reached Iran due to the enforcement of the French sanctions on Iran.
Thales has now agreed to revive the 2005 contract and deliver the radar system for installation at Bandar Abbas Airport.
