May 03, 2016 (newstodate): The new DHL Express Terminal at Sweden's Gothenburg Airport has now been commissioned.
Construction work on the 7,500 sq m building was started by spring 2015, with the official opening on March 28, 2016.
With the new facility, the handling capacity of DHL Express has been raised by 133 percent to 4,500 parcels per hour.
The building is owned by Swedavia, with DHL Express as lessee and operator.
Besides the new terminal facility at Gothenburg Airport, DHL Express is currently also investing in new terminals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Vastberga, south of the capital, and these new facilities are also to be commissioned before the end of 2016.
Today, DHL Express is operating five weekly Airbus A300 freighter flights between Leipzig and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport that handled a total of 13,407 tonnes in Q1, 2016, up two percent y-o-y.
