May 04, 2016 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways has now taken delivery of the two Boeing 787-8 aircraft ordered.
With the two aircraft in the fleet, the carrier is now training staff and crews to operate the Dreamliner that will be deployed primarily on routes to Europe from the start of Q3 this year.
Which routes will be selected for Dreamliner operations will be disclosed later in this summer.
The first CIS customer was Azerbaijan Airlines that ordered three Boeing 787-8 and two 787-9 aircraft, followed by Uzbekistan Airways that placed orders for two Boeing 787 aircraft.
