May 03, 2016 (newstodate): A tender for air transport services between Tallinn and two small islands in the Baltic Sea has attracted bids from three carriers.
The tender follows on the demise of Avies that has its AOC revoked after failing to live up to safety requirements.
Runners-up are the Estonian carriers Nordica and Airest as well as the Lithuanian carrier Transaviabaltika.
The winner of the tender for a three-year period will provide 12 weekly flights on each of the routes Tallinn-Kardla and Tallinn-Kuressaare with aircraft capable of seating at least 19 passengers.
In the fleet of Transaviabaltika are three Let-410 aircraft, Airest operates a fleet of eight SAAB340 aircraft, while Nordica operates CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft.
