May 31, 2016 (newstodate): The Estonian state-owned carrier Nordica is mulling plans for start of services to Russia.
Nordica is thus considering launching flights on the route between Tallinn and St Petersburg, left without service since November 2015 that saw the demise of Estonian Air.
St Petersburg was long on the wishing-list of Estonian Air, but despite repeated applications, the Russian authorities still denied access to the until at last granting traffic rights with the first Estonian Air flight to St Petersburg on July 27, 2009, with SAAB 340 aircraft four times weekly.
From 2013, the service by Estonian Air was upgraded to using Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.
Resumption of services on Estonian Air's former routes to Moscow and St Petersburg will, however, require renegotiation of traffic rights.
