May 30, 2016 (newstodate): Russia's Yekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport is targeting a key role in transiting passengers between China and Europe.
With Koltsovo Airport as its hub, the Russian carrier Ural Airlines has launched new flights to Europe, starting out with flights to Rome and Paris from March 2016, and adding flights to Copenhagen Airport and Helsinki Airport in June 2016.
The new flights connect with flights from Beijing and Urumqi to Koltsovo Airport where the Chinese transit traffic already accounts for 60 percent of the total revenues, and the volume of weekly flights between Beijing and Koltsovo will go up from currently four to seven weekly rotations.
Ural Airlines operates an all-Airbus fleet comprising 34 Airbus A320 Family aircraft while five A330-300 aircraft will be added for long-haul operations in 2016.
