Apr 27, 2016 (newstodate): All three main airports managed by Swedavia are reporting positive growth in cargo volumes in 2016.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport thus saw its volumes in Q1 2016 up by 12.4 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 38,935 tonnes, boosted by the addition of a 3rd weekly freighter rotation by Korean Air Lines as well as the move to the airport of TNT since August 2015 in addition to more belly-hold capacity on the airport's growing long-haul traffic.
Second-largest in volumes was Gothenburg Airport with 13,407 tonnes, also up two percent during Q1.
The biggest increase during the period was however reported by Malmo Airport where volumes rose by 23.1 percent to 59,965 tonnes, driven by ever-increasing loads on the Russian carrier ABC that operates two weekly calls at Malmo Sturup Airport as an en-route stop on the route between Amsterdam and Moscow with Boeing 747-8F freighter from April 2014, as well as the freighter traffic since January 9, 2014 by the Volga-Dnepr subsidiary Atran's weekly Boeing 737-400F freighter flights.
