Apr 06, 2016 (newstodate): The Lithuanian leisure carrier group, Small Planet Airlines has big plans for its new airline in Germany.
New details were revealed by the German carrier's two top-execs, Andreas Wobig and Oliver Pawel speaking to the aviation press club in Berlin.
Small Planet Airlines Germany will start operations with an own AOC by May 13, 2016, initially leasing two Airbus A320 aircraft from Air Berlin, temporarily adding two more aircraft from the mother company from November 2016.
The carrier will thus operate the S2017 schedule with four aircraft, growing the fleet to "at least" six Airbus A320 Family aircraft from Summer 2018.
Already in October 2015, the carrier landed an agreement with Thomas Cook to operate flights from its Paderborn base in Germany to Mediterranean resorts.
Under the agreement Small Planet Airlines GmbH will operate 460 flights from Paderborn and other Germanys airports including Bremen, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Cologne, Hanover, and Munich, estimating to carry over 100,000 passengers during the summer season.
Small Planet Airlines GmbH has also signed an agreement with TUI Deutschland.
