Apr 28, 2016 (newstodate): Tajikistan's first privately-owned carrier Somon Air is again expanding its reach with the opening of new routes.
The new routes will connect the Tajik capital at Dushanbe with Kabul, in Afghanistan, and Lahore, in Pakistan.
The new service to Kabul will be launched on April 29, 2016, with one weekly rotation, and flights to Lahore will commence from May 6, 2016, with two weekly rotations on the route.
A third novelty on Somon Air's route network will be the opening of flights between Dushanbe and Tehran, in Iran, starting from later this summer.
Currently Somon Air operates flights from Tajikistan to Germany, UAE, Turkey, China, Russia and Kazakhstan with a fleet comprising two Boeing 737-300, two Boeing 737-800 and two Boeing 737-900 aircraft.
The carrier based at Dushanbe performed its first commercial flight on February 5, 2008, opening up with services to Moscow and later, on July 29, 2009, adding services to Frankfurt, Germany, as its first flight into Europe, where Aircargonet International is serving Somon Air as its GSSA.
