Apr 04, 2016 (newstodate): While uncertainty still shrouds the plans by Iran's Mahan Air to launch flights to Stockholm, the similar new route to Denmark seems to on firm grounds.
Plans are to start services from Tehran to Copenhagen from June 9, 2016, with two weekly rotation on the route to be served with Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
In a note to newstodate, the Danish CAA Trafikstyrelsen confirms today that Mahan Air's summer schedule for 2016 was approved on February 19, 2016, leaving no further formal issues to be settled from the Danish side.
In Sweden, the Swedish CAA approved Mahan Air's application on March 23, 2016, for rights to launch traffic from June 2, 2016, between Tehran and Stockholm Arlanda from this summer, but the Swedish government has the final say on the issue.
And the issue has still not been finally decided upon by the Swedish government that is presumably under pressure from the USA to follow warnings against Mahan Air, allegedly engaged in illegal air traffic between Iran and Syria in support of Assad's government.
