Apr 20, 2016 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has started evaluations of its future short-haul feeder aircraft fleet.
The carrier is now operating a fleet of 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft, the first of which was delivered in November 2009.
-We foresee another six years of service by the Dash-8 aircraft that has been perfect for its purpose during this period. But we want to be early out, and a decision on the successor for the Q400 aircraft will be made within the coming two years, says Martin Gauss, airBaltic CEO and President.
-As part of these timely efforts we are looking over the full range of alternatives currently in the market or due to enter service over the coming years, excluding no potential options except Sukhoi Superjet aircraft.
-Immediate options include the Bombardier CS aircraft, the Japanese Mitsubishi, Embraer or the Bombardier CRJ - but it's all now in the open, says Mr Gauss.
