Apr 26, 2016 (newstodate): According to the website of the Iranian carrier Mahan Air, flights from Tehran to Copenhagen will begin from June 20, 2016.
From the start, the launch date was however set for June 9, 2016, and the airline is already accepting bookings since March 2016 for this flight and subsequent rotations on the route from Tehran, to be served twice-weekly.
Despite the information on the company website, Mahan Air maintains that the launch flight will indeed take place as originally planned.
-The information on our website was mistake and we will correct it. We will certainly start flights from Tehran to Copenhagen on June 9, and to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport from June 20, 2016, says Hossein Abdolahi, Mahan Air International Affairs Expert.
Flights by Mahan air to Stockholm, Sweden, earlier slated for launch from June 2, 2016, do no longer seem to be on the agenda, however.
Sweden's CAA has completed its technical appraisal of Mahan Air's summer 2016 schedule for Tehran-Stockholm flights by approving the service, but the case has since been referred to the government's final decision, still pending.
In summer 2015, Sweden scored a significant edge by being selected, as one of only 10 airports in the world, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to introduce US pre-clearance.
And this approval by USA seems to come at a price...
