Apr 08, 2016 (newstodate): The opening of Turkish Airlines Cargo freighter flights at west Denmark's Billund Airport on April 10, 2016, marks a new chapter in the region's airfreight environment.
-It is indeed splendid news to see the opening of this service by Turkish Airlines Cargo in times marked by weak market trends, says Jesper Nielsen, Blue Water Shipping Business Development Manager, Airfreight Scandinavia.
-The more cargo capacity in the Danish market, the better. And especially a freighter service at Billund Airport offering short distances between warehouse and apron brings in new opportunities.
-Hopes are now that airfreight forwarders in this part of the country will acknowledge the initiative and support it in order to consolidate this first weekly wide-body freighter service and pave the road for adding more frequencies in the future which will of course add further to the flexibility.
-The launch of the new service is certainly a cadeau to Turkish Airlines Cargo, but also to Cargo Center Billund that has worked relentlessly, together with partners in the industry, to realize this vision. Now it is up to the market to support the new venture, while Turkish Airlines Cargo will face the task of carving their niche based on sustainable rates to secure the operation, says Mr Nielsen.
