Apr 15, 2016 (newstodate): Crimea's Simferopol Airport is seeing brisk traffic increases under its new Russian identity.
To cope with the situation, a new passenger terminal will be constructed, with work to start by May 1, 2016, with capacity handling of 6.5 mio passengers in its first phase, later to be expanded to a capacity of 10 mio passengers annually.
The terminal is planned for completion by spring 2018, growing the airport's total passenger handling capacity by up to 200 percent.
In 2015, the airport handled a total of five mio passengers and expects the volume to grow by 10 percent in 2016.
