Apr 25, 2016 (newstodate): Bombardier has joined the queue of western companies eyeing a stake in the future of Iran's commercial aviation.
The company has signed a MoU with the Qeshm Free Trade Zone Organization aiming at setting up a new airline based on the island.
It has long been known that one such airline project as on the table in the form of Fly Qeshm, a JV with China, but it remains to be confirmed if this project will provide the basis of the new JV.
The JV now signed between the parties includes support of aircraft, maintenance and other services to the airline that will reportedly lift off already within the coming six months, based on a mix of Iranian and foreign investment.
