Mar 10, 2016 (newstodate): Backed by full-year profits in 2015 doubling for the second consecutive year, Lithuania's leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines is investing heavily in cabin refurbishments and other growth projects, rather than mere expansion.
The carrier has thus contracted the Lithuanian MRO company FL Technics to perform cabin re-design and refurbishment works on the its Airbus A320 aircraft, and the first fully retrofit process has already been completed, and similar work on the remaining aircraft will be completed within four months, in time for the summer and autumn season.
The works comprise installation of new seats, upgrading of the cabin lighting system, replacement of FWD partitions and carpet fitting, unification of emergency equipment layout, and mounting of a new decorative LED logo on the aircraft partitions.
With corporate HQs in Vilnius, Lithuania, Small Planet Airlines has grown its aircraft fleet from eight in 2013, to 11 in 2014, and to 18 aircraft in 2015.
In summer 2015, Small Planet Airlines will be operating a fleet consisting of 21 Airbus aircraft, including 17 A320 and four A321 which will be another first in the carrier's history.
