Mar 09, 2016 (newstodate): The Latvian charter carrier SmartLynx is preparing for taking in its first Airbus A321 aircraft.
The aircraft, currently grounded since February 2016, is expected at the base in Riga Airport by mid-May and was formerly operated by Novair on a lease contract with Aercap.
In the fleet of SmartLynx are now 11 Airbus A320 aircraft, and with the forthcoming arrival of the A321 the carrier can boast of having the largest commercial aircraft in service in the Baltic region - at least until this summer when it will have to share this scoop with the Lithuanian charter carrier Small Planet Airlines that will take in four aircraft of this type as well.
With a subsidiary in Estonia, SmartLynx offers charter flights for Baltic tour operators, as well as ACMI.
