Mar 09, 2016 (newstodate): Continuing a positive development in January, Finnair reports sustained positive tunes in February 2016 as well, with an over-all growth in volumes.
A total of 10,550 tonnes of cargo was carried, which was an increase by 7.8 percent, y-o-y.
Expect for N Atlantic, down 21 percent to 611 tonnes, all segments were up in volumes in February, with the important Asian traffic growing 8.3 percent to 6,489 tonnes.
Volumes in Europe were also up by 11.6 percent to 1,779 tonnes, and in total Finnair's passenger flights carried 9,037 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 6.4 percent.
From the turn of the year 2014/15, Finnair ceased own freighter traffic, now sharing capacity with BA on a freighter, operated by DHL, twice-weekly between Helsinki and London as well as contracting DHL to provide cargo uplift between Helsinki and Brussels, also operated two times weekly.
Finnair Cargo also manages and sells the belly capacity on JAL's flights since March 2013 between Tokyo and Helsinki.
These chartered cargo flights carried 1.513 tonnes of cargo in February 2016, an increase by 16.9 percent, y-o-y.
After the first two months of 2016 Finnair has thus seen total volumes up by 11.3 percent, y-o-y, to 21,292 tonnes.
