Feb 19, 2016 (newstodate): While EASA, the European Aviation Safety Agency, has now lifted its restrictions on the use of the airspace over Crimea, the US authority has not followed suit.
As reported by newstodate yesterday, European commercial airlines are now allowed to return flights over Crimea, relieving them of the extra flying time caused by detours, but only on two designated air corridors fully under the control of Ukrainian ATM.
The US authority FAA has, however, not any current plans for lifting its ban on flights over Crimea by US carriers.
Russia annexed the Crimea after a referendum in March 2014.
