Feb 26, 2016 (newstodate): Without prior notice, Tallinn Airport's CEO, Rein Loik has handed in his resignation, planning for a peaceful retirement.
Mr Loik has held the office since 1998 when the airport served little more than 560,000 passengers and handled 6,000 tonnes of cargo.
During his time as CEO, the airport has thus grown to handling in 2015 a total of over two mio passengers and the handling of 16,156 tonnes of cargo.
The Board will meet on February 29, 2016, to discuss Mr Loik's application for resignation and map the process to find his successor.
The coming new CEO will take on the responsibility for carrying through the extensive 120 mio Euro development projects facing the airport over the coming two-three years, including extension of the runway, extension of the existing passenger terminal and other infrastructure.
During the construction process, the airport's runway will remain operative with some limitations on aircraft sizes and night operations.
