Feb 29, 2016 (newstodate): The Lithuanian leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines reports strong financial results from its activities in 2015.
The company carried 1.8 million passengers up 40 percent, y-o-y, and grew revenues by 27 percent.
Even more significant, full-year profits doubled for the second consecutive year, but the carrier remains focused on consolidation, translating into investments in cabin interior and other growth projects.
Even so, the fleet is indeed growing, from eight aircraft in 2013, to 11 in 2014, and to 18 aircraft in 2015.
In summer 2015 Small Planet Airlines will operate a fleet consisting of 21 Airbus aircraft, including 17 A320 and four A321 which will be another first in the carrier's history.
-During 2016 we will be testing direct sales to customers as one of our new steps in developing our business and building a sustainable business model, says Vytautas Kaikiris, Small Planet Airlines CEO.
-Our primary strategic focus does however continue to be on balancing our seasons and although the direct sales is a step toward that, our success will come from securing activities outside Europe during the winter seasons. To this end, we are working on projects in Asia and hope to increase our activities in the region during next winter says Mr Kaikaris.
