Feb 01, 2016 (newstodate): In a move similar to that taken by Lithuania in 2014, Serbia is now also to set up a common state-owned company to manage its airports.
To be named Airport of Serbia, the new holding company will be managing a total of 25 airports around the country, including primarily the capital airport at Belgrade that is to be put on a tender for concession.
The future concessionaire of Belgrade Airport will thus gain control of the country's entire airport infrastructure which is expected to significantly increase the price to be paid in the process.
Airports of Serbia will take control of the airports by mid-February, with the head of Belgrade Airport's Development Department, Predrag Babic designated to serve as interim CEO.
