Feb 25, 2016 (newstodate): Like Fantomas, who communicated messages to his helpers only through written nightly messages, Greenland's secretive airline project Aluu Airlines communicates only sparsely through facebook.
After a prolonged period of silence, Aluu Airlines now informs the public through facebook that it is still alive and continuing its process of cautious build-up prior to launch of services.
No details are, however provided about what is to be expected, or when services may be launched to which destinations.
-We have been very busy and will travel next week to a number of localities including Ilulissat, Sisimiut, Nuuk, Narsarsuaq and Qaqortoq, the coded message reads.
-We are currently preparing negotiations of contracts and will need to investigate hangar facilities, housing options, heliport and helistop equipment and a range of other technical issues.
-At the same time we will meet with business companies to learn about their current and future needs for air transportation. Our aim is to come up with service offerings responding to the needs of society and at affordable prices, the message says.
And that's it.
Aluu Airlines was initiated by Pele Broberg, a former Air Greenland pilot, and Kuno Fencker, Royal Arctic Lines Chairman of the Board.
Aluu Airlines handed in its application for an AOC in December 2014 and planned for introduction of Airbus A321 services between Greenland and Denmark as well as turbo-prop feeder services between Kangerlussuaq and destinations in Greenland.
Initially, the launch of services was slated for June 1, 2015, but the start was postponed, the company said in March 2015, allowing for adustments to the company structure as required for the issuance of the carrier's AOC - and the project is now to start out as a real, not virtual carrier, it has been stressed.
