Feb 19, 2016 (newstodate): The new virtual carrier Green Air is being readied for launch of operations from May 2016.
Behind Green Air are now Gert Brask, Sky Greenland, and Denim Air's CCO Berry van Eeuwijk, holding 75 and 25 percent of the shares, respectively, and Mr van Eeuwijk will be acting as the carrier's managing director with no position in the future Denim Air that is now fully owned by Mr Brask's holding company.
Plans are to operate flights from Lappeenranta, close to the Finland's border with Russia, to three yet-undisclosed destinations in Europe, and flights will be operated with one Fokker 100 from Denim Air's fleet.
It is understood that the three routes will be subsidized by the region in an effort to enhance the connectivity of the airport that is close to St Petersburg with eight million citizens, and Green Air has already landed contract with Russian and Finnish tour operators for allotments of seats on the flights.
-We expect to finalize the last remaining details in the set-up by the end of this week, and next week the booking system should also be ready, and efforts are made to get Green Air's website online also within the coming few days, says Gert Brask.
