Feb 18, 2016 (newstodate): The Lithuanian leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines has published news on its fleet plans to be implemented already from this year.
As aired by newstodate in January 2016, the carrier will add larger Airbus A321 aircraft from summer, add more Airbus A320 capacity and remove the last remaining Boeing 737-300 aircraft.
Four Airbus A321 aircraft, manufactured in 20042007, will supplement the fleet, allowing the carrier to increase its capacity despite slot restrictions on the most popular routes.
All four 220-seat passenger aircraft will be placed with Small Planet Airlines Poland to operate flights to Mediterranean sea resorts.
The company has made a gradual move from Boeing 737-300 to Airbus A320 aircraft, ending the process with the replacement of Boeing aircraft altogether. Also, one oldest Airbus 320 was phased out from the fleet this winter and replaced with newer unit. The company plans to upgrade the fleet further by continuing introduction of newer Airbus 320 and Airbus 321 aircraft.
-In summer 2015, Small Planet Airlines operated a total of 18 Airbus A320 aircraft, including the two aircraft on a management contract with Libyan Airlines, Simonas Bartkus, Small Planet Airlines CCO, earlier told newstodate.
-By the end of the summer season 2015, the fleet was down to 15 aircraft after the re-delivery of some aircraft to their owners. But for the summer 2016 we expect to go up to 20 aircraft, and we actually plan to grow the fleet by about two aircraft every year.
As calculations are now, Small Planet Airlines will actually be operating 21 Airbus aircraft during the coming summer program, and will grow the fleet with about two aircraft every year, according to Mr Bartkus.
