Feb 09, 2016 (newstodate): Copenhagen and Stockholm will soon be added ton the route map by the Iranian carrier Mahan Air that has now confirmed the latest date for start of services.
-We are planning for start of services from Tehran to Stockholm from June 2, 2016, and to Copenhagen from June 6, 2016, says Hossein Abdolahi, Mahan Air International Affairs Expert.
-On both routes, Mahan Air will be offering two direct flights on Sundays and Tuesdays, respectively, from Tehran to Copenhagen and to Stockholm, summing up to four weekly flights between Iran and Scandinavia. And Mahan Air is also to launch services between Tehran and Paris CDG from May, already.
-While all EU sanctions on Iran have now been lifted, Mahan Air is still under US sanctions and we are thus not able to benefit from Iranian state financing solutions as to acquisition of new aircraft, unlike Iran Air. We are thus forced to acquire used commercial aircraft on our own hand, but this is also progressing fast.
-We are used to Airbus aircraft and will continue to build a fleet based on Airbus products, including Airbus A330, A340 and A320 Family aircraft. There are currently 56 aircraft in our fleet, but we we envisage to grow the fleet to at least 112 within three years, says Mr Abdolahi.
The carrier expects to participate in the CPH Interline & Charter Workshop on April 7, 2016, with hopes to establish connections with Danish tour operators, service providers and companies in the GSA industry.
