Feb 05, 2016 (newstodate): SAS Cargo is keen to develop its capabilities in the highly prospective pharma logistics business.
After a prolonged process, the carrier now expects to be granted its IATA's PHARMA certificate by March or April 2016, proving its ability to provide air transportation of pharmaceutical products all along the entire cool chain.
-We have been working on the challenges in the process in close cooperation with handling providers and freight forwarders, and we are fully capable of handling and transporting all temperature-sensitive shipments including perishables, human remains, and pharmaceutical products, says Leif Rasmussen, SAS Cargo CEO.
-The IATA certification marks a significant mile-stone for SAS Cargo as we consider the pharma industries to constitute a fast-growing segment with huge potentials, says Mr Rasmussen.
SAS Cargo will become the 2nd carrier in the Nordic region to complete the IATA PHARMA certification, after Finnair Cargo completed its certification as the first airline in the world at a brief ceremony on June 30, 2015.
