Feb 17, 2016 (newstodate): Few expected that IATA's target for 2015 regarding the penetration of the e-AWB would be met. But even so, developments were not bad in the Nordic and Baltic markets..
One market even out-performed the target with a penetration rate in 2015 at 66.2 percent: Iceland thus became the leading e-AWB market in Europe despite a slight decline by 3.6 percent, y-o-y.
Denmark landed at 34.1 percent in 2015, increasing 4.1 percent, y-o-y, Sweden landed at 30.4 percent, up 2.3 percent, but in Norway the e-AWB penetration still trailed behind, landing at 19.6 percent after recovering by 2.4 percent.
In the Baltic region, Lithuania managed a penetration rate in 2015 by 40.3 percent after rising 2.1 percent, Latvia landed at 23.7 percent, strongly up by 12.2 percent, and Estonia landed at 21.5 percent, also rising significantly by 6.5 percent.
To sum it up: Only one market in the Nordic/Baltic actually declined in percentage while still taking the lead in Europe, and in one market the growth was even by a two-digit percentage.
