Feb 05, 2016 (newstodate): Pending delivery of aircraft already ordered, Finnair is in need of aircraft capacity to meet demands in the market for European flights to feed into and from its Asian route network.
The carrier has therefore contracted its oneworld-partner airline NIKI to operate up to three Airbus aircraft under a damp lease arrangement where NIKI provides aircraft and flight deck while the cabin will be staffed with Finnair employees.
Starting from February 1, 2016, NIKI is thus operating one Airbus A319 aircraft on the routes connecting Helsinki with Berlin and Vienna, complementing this from May 1, 2016, with two Airbus A321 on routes connecting Helsinki with several other European destinations.
These arrangements will last till Finnair takes delivery of four Airbus A321-200 on an eight-year leasing contract with the Singapore-based company BOC Aviation Pte Ltd., adding a further two aircraft for delivery during the winter season 2017/2018.
