Feb 10, 2016 (newstodate): Thanks to good yield-management, Finnair Cargo's profitability remained largely unchanged in 2015 despite a substantial decrease in cargo traffic revenue, compared to the preceding year.
Also in 2015, cargo revenue constituted approximately nine percent of Finnair's total airline revenues.
Available cargo tonne-kilometers decreased by 2.8 percent in 2015. Belly cargo capacity grew in all traffic areas, but the overall capacity declined due to a significant decrease in dedicated freighter traffic compared to 2014, when Finnair still operated its own freighter traffic to Asia.
Capacity was reduced by the discontinuation of freighter flights to Hong Kong in December 2014 and increased by the growth of wide-body traffic and leisure flights being changed to scheduled flights, which means that the routes are included in cargo capacity.
