Feb 16, 2016 (newstodate): As the only Baltic capital airport to show positive, albeit moderate, growth in cargo volumes in January 2016, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport took the lead with an increase by 7.74 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 637 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport, comprising 496 tonnes of cargo in addition to 141 tonnes of mail.
By contrast, Latvia's Riga Airport was down by 16.2 percent to a total of 1,553 tonnes, including 940 tonnes of cargo and 613 tonnes of mail, and Estonia's Tallinn Airport was also down by 23.4 percent to a total of 651 tonnes including 511 tonnes of cargo and 140 tonnes of mail.
Outside the circle of capital airports in the Baltic region is also Lithuania's Kaunas Airport where a total of 141 tonnes of cargo was handled, a decline by 2.34 percent,m y-o-y, in January 2016.
