Dec 15, 2016 (newstodate): If plans materialize, a Small Planet Airlines' Airbus A320 aircraft will be operating a series of rotations on a new route between Skellefteaa, in Northern Sweden, and Amsterdam in summer 2017.
Behind the plans is a cooperation between tourism organizations in Sweden and GoTo Nordics, specializing in packaging and coordinating tourist tours to and from the Nordic region.
-As of December 14, 2016, booking was opened on the twice-weekly flights between Skellefteaa and Amsterdam all through June 2017, and coming up next will be the opening of bookings on flights between Kalmar and Amsterdam during the same period, says Olle Faelt, GoTo Nordics managing director.
-Our plans comprise a five-year horizon indicating that more offerings will be introduced from five or six airports in Sweden, Norway and Finland while no talks with Danish airports have so far been conducted.
-With both incoming, outgoing and booking departments, GoTo Nordics is experienced in handling tourism between the Nordic and European regions and we are working closely with agents in Holland to attract tourists from both ends of the coming routes - and we have met with a strong interest from the start.
-Details concerning the flights from Kalmar are still not settled as there are some challenges with obtaining slots at Amsterdam, and the choice of operator on the route is also still not decided, but will be be so shortly, says Mr Faelt.
