Dec 06, 2016 (newstodate): The Latvian airline airBaltic has announced the opening of a new route from Summer 2017, connecting Riga and Madrid.
Flights on the route will launch on May 26, 2017, with three weekly rotations using a mix of Boeing 737/CS300 aircraft.
The new route will offer connections between the two cities and beyond to destinations in the Baltic region, Scandinavia, Russia and the CIS countries.
Overall, airBaltic is preparing for a busy summer 2017 schedule, with a range of new route openings as more capacity is added in the form of deliveries of the CS300 aircraft, the first of which will start commercial operations from December 14, 2016.
New destinations from summer 2017, already published, include Odessa, Geneva, Aberdeen, Stavanger, Gothenburg, Tampere and Catania, all starting from Riga, as well as flights on new routes from Vilnius, Lithuania, to Paris and Munich.
