Dec 19, 2016 (newstodate): Hopes by Airbus to gain new orders for the A380 aircraft have been dimmed by one prospect customer, Iran Air.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Iran Air CEO Farhad Parvaresh said that the company has decided not to stick to the agreement for purchase of 12 Airbus A380, part of the 118 Airbus aircraft comprised by the order announced in May 2016.
Iran air has not fully ruled out the Airbus A380 but will instead rather take in more Airbus A330 aircraft for its long-haul fleet plans.
As of November 2016, Airbus had received 319 firm orders and delivered 200 aircraft.
Emirates remains the biggest A380 customer with 142 aircraft ordered, of which 87 have been delivered.
